Chiaroscuro Of Bach's two concerti for violin, flute, and harpsichord, the Brandenburg Concerto V is the most famous, but the concerto in a-minor, BWV 1044, is equally intriguing. These two concerti emphasize contrasting elements, both in surprising orchestral textures and in the colorful play between wind, bowed, and plucked soloists. The program is completed with Muffat's lush Sonata V, using string orchestra and continuo.

Metamorphosis

Metamorphosis, an idea that implies change and transformation, was the inspirational foundation of this program. We have chosen specific pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach that represent metamorphosis through changes in instrumentation, including revisions and experimentations, as well as pieces that use explicit texts on transformation. All of the chosen pieces from Metamorphosis may be, and often are, performed with alternative instrumentations.

Friends of Corelli A gathering of the 18th century's most cosmopolitan composers, Friends of Corelli brings together works by Archangelo Corelli and those who came in contact with him throughout his life. Much like today's musicians, Corelli traveled to numerous countries and crossed paths in many different ways with some of the most prolific composers, including B. Pasquini, Geminiani, Handel and others.

A German Tour JS Bach's contrapuntal style, Telemann's Galanterie, CPE Bach's Empfindsamkeit, and a surprising dash of Kleinknecht's Sturm und Drang all combine in this program. Through solo and trio sonatas, we highlight the main musical movements of northern Germany in the middle of the 18th century.

From the melancholic era of the English Renaissance, Barcelona Barroc is pleased to present its audience with a theatrical program of dramatic music based on unrequited love, by composers such as Eccles, Purcell and Dowland.
